This block right here, I love. These chubby Dresdens from the book Material Obsession are my favorite of all Dresdens. Fabric is from LOVE by Amy Butler. Finished block measures 20"
This next block is for Ali of a²(w). She sent us this picture of a painting and said she wanted to recreate it into a quilt:
Isn't that a genius idea!?
It was totally free formed pieced and just grew out of picking colors and sewing and slicing! I may need to do more like this in the future. I love the way it turned out!
And last, this quilt from another collaborative effort! I finished the last bit of binding (it had been sitting around so close to finished!) and now is ready to go to it's new home. Well, almost, I still need to wash it and take some clothesline photos! Brynn chose fabrics and pieced this one. I quilted and bound it.

I love that blue quilt - can't wait to see the rest of it. I don't see much of that particular shade of blue in the quilt shops lately.
The blue and white quilt is just beautiful! Do you have a picture of the whole quilt? :) Would love to see it!
Such a great idea for the solids quilt. I love making quilts by sewing fabrics together and just seeing where it goes. Thanks for hosting another Friday.
I love the idea to use the art as inspiration for a quilt. It makes art affordable!
AMY! That painting is fantastic, do you know who the artist is? I love the idea of using it as a quilt inspiration and you did a fantastic job with that block! Make sure she shares the finished quilt!
It's a brilliant idea using the painting as an inspiration. I bet this will be a fantastic quilt.
I always drool over the Material obsession book - have both of them but have yet not dared to take on their projects. I think your Dresden in right in the eye. Wonderful. Colorful,
Always fun to see what you are working on!
These are all so beautiful! You've had a great week: )
OMG!!!!!! You are ROCKIN the sewjo girl!!!!!! I REALLY want that mod block!!!!!!
These are all great, but that 2nd bee block idea is genius!
Ooooh, so much fun progress! Your dresden blocks are beautiful! I love the two-color dresden fan.
Love the blue and white quilt!
Interesting Dresden Plate block-I never would have realized that was the pattern: I just saw a terrific flower!
your interpretation of the painting is perfect. It's a great block. Your finished quilt is very pretty too. And don't even get me started with that dresden...I have yet to try one.
